What started as a search on the Internet 10 years ago for information about treating arthritis, resulted in the development of a top selling nutritional supplement PROCYDIN. This product, prepared in a state-of-the-art factory together with other natural health products, was and still is marketed by Value Added Life.
That Internet search revealed that pine-bark and grape-seed extract contain a powerful group of antioxidants called proanthocyanidins, with many medicinal benefits such as reducing inflammation and improving blood circulation, thereby relieving the distress of arthritis, diabetes and strokes and helping to prevent cardiovascular diseases. Realising the potential of this product, which had not been available in South Africa, Value Added Life considered importing the raw material, encapsulating it and distributing it locally.
This proved too expensive and a method to extract the raw material from locally available pine bark and grape seed was developed by two South African chemists. From its humble beginning in a dilapidated building on the outskirts of a hamlet in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, Value Added Life rapidly grew into the factory located near Port Elizabeth, South Africa, which also undertakes contract manufacturing for other companies.
The Medicines Control Council of South Africa has accredited the company for following good manufacturing practices in accordance with the council's guidelines, ensuring that all products manufactured in the factory are of the highest quality.
PROCYDIN now counts among the top 10 best sellers in the health supplement category and South Africans from all walks of life can testify (see procydin.com) to the positive effect it has had on their health and lives. Other products, all contributing to Value Added Life's mission, namely to improve quality of life, have been added to the product range, including an exciting different range, which include sound healing equipment and hearing and stuttering aids.
