The general product description for DHEA also applies to DHEA-plus except that each capsule contains a double dose (50mg) of DHEA. In addition the product formulation includes extracts of milk thistle, saw palmetto and hypoxis and is, therefore, more appropriate for males who require the additional benefits of these ingredients as indicated below.
DHEA is an important complement to testosterone therapy and may be a therapy for erectile dysfunction. Milk Thistle nutritionally supports the liver's ability to maintain its function. It has shown positive effects in treating many forms of liver disease, including cirrhosis, hepatitis, necroses, and liver damage due to drug or alcohol abuse. Saw Palmetto will nutritionally benefit the prostate and urinary tract. It is used for treating an enlarged and weakened prostate gland and may be effective in the treatment of symptoms associated with benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH). Hypoxis, a well-known genus of the family Hypoxidaceae, has a long history of medicinal use on the African continent in the treatment of urinary infections, heart weakness, internal tumours and nervous disorders. Also known as the African Potato, it is still used in primary health care.

Composition:

Each capsule contains 50 mg DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone), 350 mg Milk Thistle, 50 mg Saw Palmetto and 70 mg Hypoxis.
            

Pharmacological action:

DHEA is a bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for supplementing declining production of DHEA by the body itself as age progresses. The body is enabled to decide which hormones are needed and then synthesizes these from the DHEA available. Milk Thistle nutritionally supports the liver's ability to maintain normal liver function. Saw Palmetto is used for nutritionally benefiting the prostate and urinary tract. Hypoxis, a well-known genus of the family Hypoxidaceae, has a long history of medicinal use on the African continent
           

Indications:

Low levels of DHEA are associated with a number of diseases, such as heart disease, stress, cognitive decline, inflammation and diabetes, which become more prevalent as age progresses. For men DHEA is an important complement to testosterone therapy and may be a therapy for erectile dysfunction. Milk Thistle has shown positive effects in treating many forms of liver disease, including cirrhosis, hepatitis, necroses, and liver damage due to drug and alcohol abuse. Contra-indications:

There are no known drug or nutrient interactions associated with DHEA, saw Palmetto, Milk Thistle or Hypoxis. Since DHEA is converted to sex steroids, its use is contra-indicated for patients with hormone related cancer such as prostate, breast, ovarian or uterine cancer. High levels of DHEA can cause oily skin, acne, increased facial hair in women, deepening of the voice, and mood swings.
